Artificial Intelligence now powers smarter trade compliance decisions on UNIDO's Standards Compliance Analytics Platform
8 July 2026 - UNIDO's Standards Compliance Analytics (SCA) platform takes a leap forward with the integration of an AI-driven analytical layer, enabling exporters, policymakers, and development practitioners to move faster from data to decision, transforming how countries anticipate and respond to agri-food trade compliance challenges.
Until now, navigating trade rejection data required significant analytical expertise and time. The new AI capability embedded in the SCA platform changes this fundamentally. Users can instantly generate clear, evidence-based insights on border rejection trends across exporting countries, importing markets, and product categories, contextualizing current compliance challenges against historical patterns and flagging emerging risk signals before they escalate into export losses. This new feature represents a shift in how data-driven trade intelligence can be delivered at scale to the countries that need it most.
The AI layer synthesizes rejection data across five major importing markets: Australia, China, the European Union, Japan, and the United States. It produces targeted summaries tailored to specific country-market and country-product combinations. By incorporating anomaly detection and historical trend analysis, the tool helps users identify not only where compliance failures are occurring, but why they may be increasing, drawing on external data sources to contextualize findings and support more targeted interventions.
For countries, the ability to quickly pinpoint the highest-priority compliance gaps and understand their likely drivers can make the difference between losing or retaining market access. The AI layer makes this level of analysis accessible to a much broader range of users, reducing dependence on specialized expertise and enabling faster, more informed investment decisions in quality infrastructure. As AI capabilities continue to evolve, the SCA platform is positioned to deliver increasingly sophisticated foresight tools, helping countries stay ahead of shifting regulatory landscapes and strengthen their long-term export competitiveness.
